One hundred British Muslim Scholars gathered at Ghausia Mosque Huddersfield to discuss the efforts made by Sufi Imams to prevent radicalisation of young people online and under-ground. British Muslim Scholars reiterated that the “poisonous and deluded” ideology of ISIS is contrary to the teachings of Islam.

The Imams welcomed the guilty verdict of hate-preacher Anjem Choudary. Dr Qari Asim, Imam of Makakh Mosque,  said: Anjem Choudary was not welcomed in any of the mosques because of his extreme views. He was keen to spread a hateful ideology, and the media provided him the platform. He sought to create division in society and manipulate young people for his own agenda under the guise of religion."

Imams discussed the recent news of Kadiza Sultana, one of three pupils who left the UK together to join ISIS, who is thought to have been killed while planning to flee ISIS territory.

Imam Umar Hayat Qadri, chairman of Suffah Foundation & Imam of Ghausia Mosque, Huddersfield said: "Imams have advised Muslims for some time against all travel to ISIS held territory. Anyone who does travel to these areas, for whatever reason, is putting themselves in considerable danger."

Imam Syed Mazar Saeed Kazmi  said:  “The world has witnessed horrific and barbaric acts of murder and persecution by ISIS. It is disgusting to note that perpetrators of such abhorrent acts are claiming to be murdering people in the name of a religion."

The Imams urged the government to formulate an intelligent and robust strategy to deal with the sophisticated social media recruitment campaign that is being run by ISIS to allure young Muslims.

“ISIS neither speak for Islam nor their poisonous ideology is shared by Muslims across the globe. Through their evil actions, ISIS have shown that they are an affront to human dignity and human conscience.” said Imam Ahmed Nisar Baig.

The Imams have once again advised British Muslims to actively oppose ISIS’s toxic ideology, especially when this is being promoted within Britain, via social media.

The Imams were also in agreement that Muslims need to actively address the Isis ideology and robustly challenge their extremist views and bring further awareness of their recruitment tactics within their local Mosques.

Our Mission, In the beginning

The students of the first School of Islam, established in the Prophet's Medinan Masjid, were known as the Ashab Al-Suffah (People of the raised platform). These companions, with complete devotion, learned from the treasures of the beloved Prophet Muhammad, Peace and Blessings of God be upon him.

With this knowledge they set out and shared the Prophetic guidance with the rest of the world establishing the teachings of the Quran and Prophetic Sunnah.

And Now...

The Suffah Foundation aims to continue this tradition of learning, practising & teaching Islamic values through the production of written materials, the Internet & public talks.
